Providing quality care to our neighbors is more than just a job at JSSA. It’s our mission.

As a field placement agency for high school, undergraduate, and graduate mental health/social work students, JSSA provides an opportunity for students to apply what they learn in the classroom to real people and communities. Students gain an understanding of what it means to work in a nonprofit agency that provides services to people across the lifespan. JSSA is located and provides services in the National Capital Region, which includes select counties in Maryland, Washington, D.C. and Northern Virginia. All applicants interested in applying must be able to live and work in the National Capital region to be eligible.

JSSA provides the following services:

All internship opportunities for the summer and fall of 2025 are closed.

Applications for high school and undergraduate internships for the summer of 2026 will be open starting January 2026.

Graduate students interested in the January 2026 cohort can apply starting August 2025.

Please feel free to email Kiran Dixit, Director of Learning and Inclusion at Kdixit@jssa.org with any questions.
