Hospice Volunteer Training

Hospice is a team-oriented approach to end-of-life care, and JSSA volunteers play a key role in helping us address our patients' needs and wishes. In 2016, our 190 specially-trained volunteers made more than 5,000 visits to Hospice patients and Transitions clients, providing compassionate support by: Reading aloud Playing games Sharing stories about travel, cooking, gardening and more Documenting important memories Playing musical instruments or singing Bringing certified therapy pets Offering massage therapy Going on brief excursions Volunteers also assist nurses and social…

Road to Independence: Disability Inclusion Resource Fair

The Jewish Federation of Greater Washington, in partnership with Transition Work Group of Montgomery County, is hosting a resource fair for young adults with disabilities and their families. More than 35 local organizations -- including JSSA's Specialized Employment Services -- will be onsite to share information about a variety of opportunities: Social Recreational Vocational Employment Housing Financial This event is free and open to adults, young adults, and high school students ages 14 and up. Parking is available on-site.

Transitioning Youth 2018 Provider Fair

  Prepare for life after Montgomery County Public Schools at the Transitioning Youth Provider Fair, hosted by MCPS Transition Services Unit. Families of students who have been determined DD eligible and will be exiting school at age 21 in June 2018 are invited to attend and meet representatives from provider agencies, including JSSA's Specialized Employment Service.
