Service description:  For more than 20 years, JSSA's Employment and Career services (previously known as Jewish Vocational Services) has provided counseling and employment services to more than 100,000 clients in the Jewish and general communities of Greater Washington.
 
JSSA's employment and career services assist people who are unemployed or underemployed, professionals changing careers, individuals with disabilities, youth in need of career guidance and newly arrived émigrés and refugees in our community.  Some services are available in Spanish, Russian and ASL.

Services are available in our Silver Spring and Rockville (Wood Hill Road) locations.

Payment:  Information about JSSA's fees and charges is available upon request. This is a fee-for-service program. JSSA can provide financial assistance on a sliding fee scale based on need. Some clients may be eligible for DDA or DORS funding.

JSSA's employment and career services program can help if you are unemployed, considering a career change, seeking to advance a career, re-entering the workforce or choosing a college major.

Our highly skilled team of career professionals can help you:

• Explore new careers
• Identify your abilities, skills and personality traits
• Construct effective job-search strategies (including social networking and web-based searches)
• Develop employment leads
• Prepare for interviews
• Create a professional resume
• Complete federal resumes and KSAs

Customized Career Assessments:

JSSA's career guidance program can help if you are exploring career options or choosing a college major.  
 

JSSA offers a broad range of services designed to prepare, support, and sustain individuals with a broad range of special needs in meaningful and appropriate employment. Our professional staff of experienced vocational evaluators, supported employment specialists, job coaches and job developers provide employment support services including:

 
• Vocational assessment and rehabilitation counseling
• Work Adjustment Training (WAT) classes
• Job placement
• Job coaching through ongoing supported employment
• Monthly support dinners
• Liaison with employers to promote job retention
