At Wit’s End: Practical Strategies for Managing Challenging Behaviors in Older Adults

This CE training will provide participants with practical ways to approach challenging behaviors in older adults, including a strategy for assessing behaviors related to distress, pain, and dementia and other cognitive impairments; tips on motivating older adults to participate in their own care; and an understanding of the importance of optimizing function to one’s overall wellbeing. The session will include case studies and interactive activities to illustrate approaches.

Erin Vigne has been an intervention nurse at the University of Maryland School of Nursing for more than 6 years and has a master’s degree in gerontology.
