May 6 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
An event every day that begins at 9:00am, happening 2 times
Looking for a meaningful way to give back to your community?
Become a hospice volunteer at JSSA
Volunteers are an integral part of JSSA’s interdisciplinary hospice team, providing companionship to those receiving end-of-life care and support to their caregivers. We are always looking for the following types of volunteers:
- Individuals willing to read, play games, listen to music, or share stories
- Owners of certified therapy dogs
- Complementary therapists
- Musicians and singers
- Foreign language speakers
Volunteers are required to attend our two-day training (May 6 and 7, 2018) and are encouraged to attend ongoing training during the year. Following the training, volunteers are asked to commit to a minimum of 2 hours/week visiting patients.
(Please note that we have found it beneficial for individuals to wait one year following the death of a loved one before becoming a JSSA Hospice and Transitions volunteer.)
All potential volunteers must submit an application and complete an interview before participating in the training. Registration will close five days prior to the first session. No walk-ins allowed.
