Doing Good with Mitzvah Mavens
January 7, 2018 @ 2:30 pm - 4:30 pm
You’re invited to learn how you can support disability employment programs in the Washington metropolitan area with The Jewish Federation of Greater Washington‘s Mitzvah Mavens, an inter-generational community of women who share a commitment to tikkun olam (repairing the world).
This event is free to attend.
- Tom Liniak, JSSA’s Director of Specialized Employment Services, will share the program’s successes in matching individuals with disabilities with local businesses to create work opportunities. He will also explain how others can help the program grow and make new employment connections for JSSA’s clients.
- Lisa Handelman, Federation’s Community Disability Inclusion Specialist, will explain upcoming legislative issues that directly impact individuals with disabilities and lead a letter writing campaign urging representatives to vote against H.R. 620 as part of Jewish Disability Advocacy Day.
Please bring fidgets (self-regulating tools that enhance learning) to be donated to Federation’s Inclusion Program. (Examples include Pull & Stretch Balls, Koosh Balls, and Water Wigglies.)
Refreshments will be served. Kosher laws observed.
