Jewish Chaplaincy Services Volunteers Jewish Chaplaincy Services (JCS) volunteers offer spiritual, religious and personal connection to vulnerable Jewish seniors living in nursing homes and assisted living facilities not under Jewish auspices. Volunteering and reaching out to this population is vital since many residents may be isolated and this may be their only connection to the Jewish community. JCS volunteers offer Jewish resources and a variety of programs including brief Sabbath and holiday services, discussion groups, art projects, singing programs and one-on-one visits with residents. Commitment varies by type of activity, but can range from once weekly to occasional or seasonal involvement. Family, group and class projects can easily be accommodated. A wide variety of opportunities are available to groups such as youth groups, Sisterhoods/Men’s Clubs, Jewish women’s groups, religious school classes, summer camp groups, etc. |
