Coming of Age Program Older adults value living in their homes in familiar and comfortable settings. However, this living situation, known as aging in place, sometimes limits connections to the local neighborhood and broader community. To keep seniors connected and promote well-being, four local nonprofit agencies including JSSA have collaborated to create Coming of Age in Maryland (COA in MD), and Coming of Age in Northern Virginia (COA in NoVA), a program that brings together recreation and professional services in a unique way.
Registration for activities is open to seniors of all faiths and ethnicities living in Montgomery County who enroll at no charge in COA in MD. For enrollment in the program and to register for each individual activity, call 301-348-3832, send us an email inquiry or visit www.jccgw.org. Leisure World residents should contact the E & R office for more information. COA in Maryland is a partnership of the Jewish Community Center of Greater Washington (JCCGW), JSSA (Jewish Social Service Agency), Premier Homecare, and the Jewish Council for the Aging (JCA). Funding is provided by the State of Maryland, the Jewish Federation of Greater Washington, and the United Jewish Endowment Fund through June 2012.
