February is Jewish Disability Awareness Month
The mission of Jewish Disability Awareness Month is to unite Jewish communities and organizations for the purpose of raising awareness and supporting meaningful inclusion of people with disabilities and their families in every aspect of Jewish life.
JSSA's professional staff of clinical social workers, therapists, psychologists, psychiatrists, counselors and educational specialists offer a wide variety of parenting and family workshops and trainings throughout the year. Offerings include: a parent toolbox series on a variety of child and teen issues; parent support groups for children, teens, and young adults across the autism spectrum; family support groups for parents and family members of children with special needs and support groups for bereaved parents. JSSA also offers annual professional symposia on a variety of child/teen mental health-focused topics that parents are welcome to attend.
