CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS

If your child or teen is having trouble at school, with relationships or adjusting to a new or challenging fanmiy situation, JSSA is here. A little extra help in coping may be needed, or there may be a deeper problem involved - emotional, psychological, physical or medical - that calls for our more specialized approach. Sometimes, a special need such as a developmental delay, a learning disability, autism or autistic-like behavior may be at the root of a child's difficulties, requiring our comprehensive and unique expertise.

JSSA clinical social workers, therapists, psychologists, board-certified psychiatrists and educational specialists help identify the learning, emotional or psychological problem underlying many child and teen challenges. We provide the basis for addressing needs and determining the most appropriate treatment course.

Once a comprehensive evaluation identifies a child or teen's particular areas of need, a plan of service and care coordination is created and implemented.

Recommended services could include individual, group or family therapy. JSSA provides ongoing assessment and treatment through a full range of therapeutic options including cognitive behavior therapy; psychodynamic psychotherapy; play therapy; parent/child, family and group therapy; and other evidenced-based approaches. JSSA provides both brief and longer-term intervention to achieve symptom relief and improved functioning at home and at school.

Other services could include psychiatric evaluation and/or a medication management plan. JSSA may refer your child or teen to our board-certified child and adult psychiatrists if psychiatric evaluation or medication management is necessary. Our psychiatrists will meet with you and your child and work with your child's pediatrician or family doctor to create a medication management plan.

Additional services may include educational or neuropsychological testing and consultation, referrals to participate in a specific workshop or support group or links to helpful community resources.

JSSA works with you, your child, family, and involved professionals to monitor and coordinate individualized care plans on an ongoing basis. JSSA provides the assistance and tools to improve the lives of children of all ages and their families.
