Adoption Options, JSSA's non-sectarian adoption program, is a licensed Child Placing Agency in Maryland and Virginia. For the past 118 years, JSSA has provided a full range of adoption and family-building services to meet the needs of individuals and families throughout the life cycle. The Adoption Option's staff includes master's level, licensed social workers with an average of 20 years of experience in the field of adoption.

JSSA offers Adoption Options services In Maryland and Virginia. In Maryland we serve: Montgomery, Anne Arundel, Queen Anne's, St. Mary's, Washington, Baltimore, Calvert, Carroll, Cecil Charles, Frederick, Harford, Howard and Prince George's counties as well as Baltimore City. In Virginia we serve: Fairfax, Loudoun, Prince William, Spotsylvania, Arlington, Frederick and Stafford countines and the cities of Alexandria, Fredericksburg, Manassas Park, and Manassas.

JSSA’s adoption and support service include:

  • Pre-home study counseling/information about adoption alternatives
  • Parental placement counseling
  • Counseling for birth parents
  • Home studies and post-placement supervision
  • Home studies for embryo adoption/placement
  • Court reports
  • Counseling for adoptees of all ages and their families
  • Adult adoptee and birthparent search services
  • Workshops, meetings and support groups

JSSA's Adoption Options and Jewish Community Services (JCS) in Baltimore now partner to offer expanded adoption services to families in the Baltimore-Washington area, providing a range of coordinated services to adoptive families, adoptees and birth parents.

Support for Adoptive Families and Adoptees
Adoptive families may face unique issues in raising their children. Jewish Community Services (JCS) of Baltimore and Jewish Social Service Agency (JSSA) in Rockville partner to provide a range of coordinated services to adoptive families, adoptees and birth parents in the Baltimore-Washington area.

JSSA’s Adoption Options, a licensed child placing agency, provides:
• Private consultations to identify adoption alternatives
• Home studies
• Counseling for birth parents
• Private adoption services
• Required post-placement supervision for domestic and international adoptions and support and guidance throughout the adoption process.

JCS' Adoption Alliances, a licensed adoption program, provides:
• Information, education and referral to adoptive families and those touched by adoption
• Post-adoption services, including counseling and support to adoptive families throughout the life cycle
• Support groups
• Adoption Alliances also facilitates searches and reunions including a monthly support group for people interested in adoption search issues. The group is open to adult adoptees, adoptive parents, birth parents, and birth siblings.
