Coming of Age (COA) Program Older adults value living in their homes in familiar and comfortable settings. However, this living situation, known as aging in place, sometimes limits connections to the local neighborhood and broader community. To keep seniors connected and promote well-being, four local nonprofit agencies including JSSA have collaborated to create Coming of Age in Maryland (COA in MD), and Coming of Age in Northern Virginia (COA in NoVA), a program that brings together recreation and professional services in a unique way.
Older adults living in their homes in Montgomery County are invited to join Coming of Age in Maryland at no charge. Benefits include:
- Fun recreation and educational events at local restaurants, theaters, the JCC and Leisure World
- Personal assistance by a therapist to connect to mental health therapy, support groups and other individual needs
- Transportation to Coming of Age in Maryland events from selected pick-up points
- Home health services such as home aides and 24-hour emergency alert services
- Limited financial assistance may be available for those with low incomes who qualify
JSSA's Coming of Age(COA) partners:
