Requirements: Ability to work with minimal supervision in providing career counseling and job placement; administering and assessing occupational/career testing; community relations, outreach and networking; assisting in the administration, coordination and planning of special initiatives/programs as requested. Excellent customer service, time management, communication skills and ability to work in a fast paced environment with rigid deadlines required. Working knowledge of MS Office. JSSA has a part-time (24 hours per week) licensed clinician position in our Fairfax, VA office. Job requirements include life skills coaching and job readiness training for young adults with Asperger’s syndrome. The position will also involve some individual and group therapy with adults. JSSA’s Fallsgrove, Rockville office is seeking an energetic, enthusiastic summer intern to assist with a variety of tasks within our marketing, fundraising and human resource departments. This can be a part-time or full-time position with flexible hours. This is an ideal position for a student interested in gaining hands-on experience in the social service/non-profit, fundraising, marketing or human resource fields.
Tasks and responsibilities include:
Marketing Department
• Assist with search engine optimization research (Web research)
• Research mailing list purchase opportunities
• Assist with research/writing of “pitch stories” for upcoming year
• Assist with promotion of fall community events (PR, communication outreach)
• Assist with small graphic jobs and PowerPoint presentations
• Access and Excel database research and maintenance - media, organization contacts
• Administrative support
Fundraising Department
• Data entry on The Raiser’s Edge fundraising software
• Reviewing grants
• Donor research/Google research
• Administrative support (filing, etc.)
• Event coordination support
Human Resources
• Updating job description forms/information
• Compensation program - wage & salary comparison - entering data in an Excel file
• Updating all HR literature, forms, supervisor’s manuals, etc.
• Assist with the creation of JSSA’s new staff manual.
• Auditing license and malpractice insurance certificates
• Support HR assistant with follow-up for social worker credentialing
• Train for front desk receptionist duties (fill-in during summer vacation breaks)
