Jen and Mark's Story Jen and Mark's Story

Jen and Mark, after 17 years of marriage and raising three children, found themselves increasingly growing apart. They realized divorce was their only option, but were very concerned that the process not become an adversarial one and the well being of their children remain their top priority. They turned to JSSA for help and enrolled in the Collaborative Divorce program. Collaborative divorce focuses on prioritizing families and promoting an honest, transparent exchange of information to facilitate problem-solving with a commitment from participants not to go to court. Jen and Mark found the team approach of the program particularly appealing. Collaborative divorce may include lawyers, divorce coaches, child specialists and financial experts and may also call upon the expertise of other professionals, such as clergy. In addition, the couple were comforted to know that JSSA also offers separation and divorce support groups for both adults and children. With JSSA's help, Jen and Mark were able to preserve their family bonds, ensure their children's' emotional well being, and move forward during this difficult transition period with a minimum of conflict and disruption.
